Hi all!

Yes, indeed, something is up, which is why I’m doing an out-of-cycle post. By now most of you know that this must mean I’m having a procedure or something of the sort. You guessed right! Being avid followers you will all know that I’ve had masses of problems with my teeth, the reason for this is twofold: one, owing to my being on a ventilator for weeks on end while I was in neo-natal ICU, and two, because of the large volumes of strong drugs I was on. The combination of these caused my teeth to literally be cavity ridden as they arrived. Additionally, the drugs and ventilation caused the enamel on my teeth to fail, resulting in a generally poor state of my teeth.

I’ve always known that I was going to have to go for much dental work, but this is being expedited, as I’m suffering immensely with tooth pain. This has a knock-on effect on my eating and sleeping. For example, sometimes I just don’t want to eat to prevent having the pain of biting. Other times, I toothache causes me to wake up from my already poor sleep patterns, which arose from my post-traumatic stress syndrome from being in the hospital for so long.

So Saturday I’m scheduled to have veneers done on my teeth and check for any cavities that need filling. Because I’m so little, I cannot sit still for the dental work, so my dentistry must be done under general anaesthetic. And with anaesthetic comes an operating theatre, as it has all the necessary resuscitation equipment and personnel close-by, should anything go wrong.

Needless to say I am a little nervous, as I don’t like anaesthetic, and I also have to starve myself before surgery.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers on Saturday morning as I undergo my 16th procedure.

Lots of love,
