Today is an incredibly serendipitous day for me! This morning I woke up realising that it is my 9 month birthday. Lying in bed, pondering this fact, I went on to realise that it is also a Thursday, and I was born on a Thursday. Mmmm, is that just a coincidence, or not?

Delving even deeper into the date I suddenly figured out that I am exactly 39 weeks old today, and what makes this even more uncanny is that I was born after 39 weeks in Mom’s tummy!

The plot thickens!!!!

So lets consider today’s date:

2009.03.19

It pretty obvious that the digit three and the two nine’s pop out at you (2009.03.19), so let’s take those out (we’re left with 200_.0_.1_)! We’re then left with a few zeros and a 1 and a 2, add these up, and you get a 3! So after having done this addition of the 1 and the 2, I’m now left with two three’s and two nine’s. Put these together, and you have two 39’s! One 39 for the number of weeks before I was born, and one for my age today in weeks, 39!

Furthermore, I’m all of 273 days old today. Add the 2 and the 7, and you get 9, which leaves the 3 from 273. Put the 3 and the 9 beside each other, and what do you get? 39! Furthermore, in terms of my age in days, add the 2, 7, and 3 and you get 12, add the 1 and 2 together from 12 and you get 3! Put this in front of my age in months (9) and you get . . . . 39!

Now, let’s look at Mom and Dad’s ages. I won’t reveal their exact ages, but a quick calculation tells me that Mom is 13 278 days old today, and Dad is 14 430 days old. Looking at Mom’s age, and adding the individual digits that make up her age I arrive at 3, i.e. 13 278 days, translated into 1 + 3 + 2 + 7 + 8 = 21; add the 2 and 1, and you arrive at 3. Consider the same of Dad’s age in days (14 430), I also arrive at 3 (i.e. 1 + 4 + 4 + 3 + 0 = 12; add the 1 and 2, and you arrive at 3)! For any of you that are interested, this is called the modulo operation, or digit summing.

Some more interesting facts: The difference in age between Mommy and Daddy is 1 152 days. Using the above rationale (i.e. 1 + 1 + 5 + 2), I arrive at 9!

Last, but not least, if you take Mom and Dad’s wedding anniversary (30.09.1995), and add the individual numbers you arrive at a 9! I.e. 3 + 0 + 0 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 36; add the 3 and 6, and you’re back to a 9. Needless to say, adding the date and month of their wedding anniversary (30 and 9), one arrives at 39, back to my age today in weeks!

If you’re still not convinced at the importance of 3’s and 9’s in my life, consider the time I was born: 15:21. Add the individual digits (1 + 5 + 2 + 1), and we’re get back to . . . 9!!! At birth, I weighed 3.9kgs (spot the 3 and 9, or remove the decimal point and you’re at 39, my age in weeks today), and my height was 38.5cm, rounded off, is 39cm! At birth my APGAR scores were 8/9/10; add these digits up (8 + 9 + 10 = 27, add the 2 and 7) and we’re back to a 9!

So, here’s to the 3’s and the 9’s!

Hugs,

Jarrod
